About TAGStone
Independent by design. Personal by choice.
TAGStone Capital is a fee-only registered investment adviser headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. Independently owned and operated, we act as a fiduciary, obligated to act in our clients' best interest. We serve successful entrepreneurs, individuals, families, and businesses, and have treated our clients like family since our founding. Our structure is corporate; our attitude is collaboration.
Being fee-only means our only compensation comes from our clients. We do not work on commission, accept referral fees, or receive other compensation, which reduces the conflicts of interest common to commission-based advice. It also means the advice you receive comes directly from the person who founded the firm—so it's only right you meet him first.

Credentials
- CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional
- This certification signals the ability to look at a household's whole financial picture and build long-term strategy around it: cash flow and retirement income, insurance planning and risk management, tax-aware decisions, education funding, and estate and wealth-transfer strategies. CFP Board requires its professionals to act as fiduciaries when giving financial advice.
- Chartered Financial Analyst® charterholder
- This designation signals depth in investment analysis: valuing individual stocks and bonds, evaluating funds and ETFs, working with options and other derivatives, assessing alternative and private investments, and measuring risk across an entire portfolio rather than one holding at a time. It is the credential most widely held by institutional investment analysts and portfolio managers, and it is why complex positions — concentrated employer stock, restricted shares, legacy trust assets, private placements — are analyzed here rather than handed to someone else.

Frequently Asked Questions
About the firm.

He is a CFA® charterholder and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, and a graduate of the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School. Who does TAGStone serve?
TAGStone serves individuals, families, trusts, estates, private foundations, charitable organizations, retirement plans, and businesses — in the Carolinas, across the Southeast, and beyond. Clients come to us when they have assets to invest and want them managed well: at a business sale, an inheritance, the settling of an estate, a concentrated stock position, the funding of a trust, or simply when their portfolio has outgrown the attention it is getting.
If you have money to invest, start with a call.
Is TAGStone independent?
Yes. TAGStone Capital is independently owned, is not affiliated with a bank, brokerage, or insurance company, and has no proprietary products to sell. Independent does not mean alone. Reid works with an extensive network of specialists — investment managers, CPAs, estate and tax attorneys, insurance professionals, and institutional research providers — and brings the right ones to each situation.
Clients get institutional capability with a single point of accountability, not a committee and a call center.
Where is TAGStone located, and do you work with clients outside Charlotte?
TAGStone Capital is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and serves clients throughout the Southeast and beyond. Much of our work is done by video, phone, and email, and account opening, document signing, and reporting are all handled online, so geography is rarely a constraint. Clients who want to meet in person are always welcome in Charlotte.
